Halloween is probably the strangest time of the year; after all, we spend all year nurturing our children, keeping them safe, and trying to prevent them from becoming scared. We teach them not to talk to strangers and certainly not to take sweets from strangers, and then along comes Halloween.
On one night of the year, we go against everything we have ever taught our children; we take them out in the dark, dressed in scary costumes, and then actively encourage them to take sweets from strangers – quite strange when you think about it.
